Oh I have feared this day was coming for about a week now…………….

Republican Fred Thompson has quit the presidential race, according to a statement.

“Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States,” Thompson said. “I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people.”

Fred’s campaign lacked the organization and funding of the major players, but spoke more for the American common man and middle class than anyone gave him credit for.  An honest man with straightforward ideas.  I guess his candidacy was doomed from the start.  It’s a sad day for the GOP, yet I thought it was an inevitable conclusion to his bid for the Presidency. 

You’ll be missed Fred.
