Detroit Lion’s first 08 moves, so long Big Baby

Well the lions have finally started to make their 08 moves.  I have to say, so far so good.  With a question mark…  The Lions sent Big Baby (aptly named) to the Browns in return for cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round pick in the April draft.

On the surface, the Lions got more than fair value for Rogers. The Browns gave them their third-round pick in the April draft and starting cornerback Leigh Bodden.

Bodden, only 26, has played five seasons in Cleveland. He had a career high six interceptions in 2007. The six interceptions tied Bodden for fifth in the league.

Bodden, 6-foot-1 and 193 pounds, fits the mold that Marinelli wants — a young, developing player with his best seasons ahead of him.

I like getting the cornerback, some cap room, and another third round pick.  Issue is if Bodden will be worth the effort.

Bodden set career highs for interceptions (six), pass breakups (15) and tackles (88) in ’07, but he fell into disfavor with the coaches, who thought he did not play up to his potential.

Unfortunately the Lions have not be all that swift in getting player up to their potential lately particularly those with problems with the police……  Hell the Lions did get him from the Cleveland Browns after all.
