Blogger strike against the Associated Press
*UPDATED*
Apparently the AP wants to apply their own Fairness Doctrine to the blog world. While most citations may not be in proper MLA or APA format, bloggers do provide adequate links to references providing background material. This is a benefit to the blogger, and a revenue generator for sites such as AP. In support of fellow bloggers served takedown notices by the AP. The POTR joins the voices saying “Screw you AP!”. That means no link to AP articles, and no clicks from you to them at http://pissedofftreerat.wordpress.com and hopefully a loss of cash to AP. These guys with their terrorist connected reporters and Photoshoping editors have been on the downward slide for years. Now they’re officially on the “You Guys Suck” list.

While the AP screws the bolggers maybe they should follow BBCs reporting:
In 2007 three times as many people were arrested for blogging about political issues than in 2006, it revealed.
More than half of all the arrests since 2003 have been made in China, Egypt and Iran, said the report.
It also noted that many nations, perhaps as many as 30, imposed technological restrictions on what people can do online. In nations such as China this made it difficult for people to use a blog as a means of protest.
The report pointed out that it is not just governments in the Middle East and East Asia that have taken steps against those publishing their opinions online. In the last four years, British, French, Canadian and American bloggers have also been arrested.
Yeah………………. friggin bite me.

Great idea. I’m joining you. Often the AP just rewrites a press release in the first place. From now on, I’m going to reference the press release or fellow blogs.
