Daunte Culpepper is now officially a Detroit Lion

Not only is Culpper now a Lion he is likely to start this Sunday vs. Jacksonville due to an alleged injury to Dan Orlovsky’s thumb.

Culpepper, 31, announced his unofficial retirement from the NFL in early September, unable to find a suitable opportunity after abbreviated stints in Miami and Oakland the past two seasons. But two weeks ago, he changed his mind after talking to the Lions, among other teams.

Three days of practice after coming out of retirement.  Let’s see that will give Detroit about 5 plays to work on with Culpepper in time for this Sunday.  Hey all you guys in Fantasy Football land pick the Jacksonville DST this week.  They are going to have a field day with Detroit.  I’m guessing a grand total of only 4 running and 2 passing plays will be used all day………

Culpepper’s overall career stats:

Year Team Passing Yards TD INT Rating
1999 MIN 0 0 0
2000 MIN 3937 33 16 98.0
2001 MIN 2612 14 13 83.3
2002 MIN 3853 18 23 75.3
2003 MIN 3479 25 11 96.4
2004 MIN 4717 39 11 110.9
2005 MIN 1564 6 12 72.0
2006 MIA 929 2 3 77.0
2007 OAK 1331 5 5 78.0
